So much to be thankful for!

It’s been quite some time since our last update! We just celebrated our sixth month anniversary at the store and would like to thank all of our customers, partner chefs, neighbors, friends and family for all your support.

Last Thanksgiving our store was under construction and we baked just a couple of apples pies and challah loaves out of a commercial kitchen we were renting in Boca.This year we had over 30 orders for Thanksgiving, baked about 65 different things including apple pies, pumpkin cakes, s’more pies and challah rolls!! Thank you all for helping us get established as your neighborhood bakery!

Local well known restaurants in downtown Delray such as Brule Bistro, 3rd & 3rd and Max’s Harvest have given us the opportunity to partner with them and carry our breads and a few signature croissants and desserts. We are so proud to see our baked goods as part of their amazing menus. We’ve also partnered with Coffee District and they carry an assortment of our croissants, scones and muffins to go with their delicious coffees.

In Boynton Beach we’ve been providing croissants, focaccia and challah bread to Infusions Cafe and created a special hoagie for The Boardwalk Ice cream shop for their weekend hot dog and sausage specials. We recently partnered with Pizza Rox providing them with chocolate chip cookies, our house made gooey Rice Krispies bars and a gluten free salted caramel cookie created just for them!

We are proud to be working together with other local businesses, sharing customers and promoting each other. Thank you for welcoming us, for giving us the opportunity as a start up business and partnering with us.

At the store it’s been very busy few months as more neighbors discover us and order cakes for their special celebrations, croissant platters for when family come visit, tell their work colleagues about us and order more platters for office meetings and events. We have a few true bread lovers that order their special honey wheat bread or sourdough on a weekly basis. And we are so happy to have been selected by an out of town bride to do her wedding cake and mini cupcakes for her very special day! To the city of Boynton Beach, thank you for ordering many platters for their various public events and promoting our local bakery. All of this is possible thanks to our customers that come in and share our story with their friends and refer more customers. Thank you!

And I would also like to thank my Del Sol Team, since they make it all possible every day 7 days a week. Thank you to my right hand Pastry Chef Jason, and my mom and sister for their hard work and long days and to my fiance Fabian for coming in on the weekends to help with the deliveries. It truly takes a village. Thank you!

Del Sol Bakery is open and in business! At the end of our second week we have already established local accounts, returning customers and have sold out of our chef’s selection almost every day.

Now Open!

Our bakery has a limited chef’s selection available at our store everyday that includes a rotating menu of breads, croissants, pastries and sweets, each day has something a little different. Last week’s best seller and favorite was our ham and cheese croissant topped with crispy swiss cheese. We also had the mini lemon loafs with citrus glaze and lots of coconut oatmeal cookies that customers were coming back for. This week we will have bacon and smoked cheddar croissant, salted caramel brownies, and tomato pesto focaccia. Give us a call to find out today’s special!

On May 13th we had our Grand Opening party that was a great success! Many of our friends, families and neighbors came out for a tasting of what we have to offer. From bite size pesto focaccia to samples of salted caramel brownies, everyone got a sweet and savory snack. There was also a raffle of lots of baked goods like croissant sampler boxes, sweet boxes and even two whole cakes that random lucky guests got to take home. Our favorite moment was the 4 foot long baguette cutting, instead of a ribbon we cut the bread! Thank you everyone who came out to our Grand Opening Party and for welcoming Del Sol Bakery into business.

Del Sol Bakery is born!

We are excited to share that we have our own keys to Del Sol and we moved in last week. With this being our first week in our store, we did a deep cleaning and have been testing the ovens, equipment and recipes.

First baguettes

We fired up the double deck oven and the very first batch of baguettes came out with a crisp crust and chewy interior. We finally got to use our dough sheeter to roll out the croissants which makes it easier to produce dozens of delicious pastries. Once all our recipes are tested in the new ovens, we will be preparing samples for local restaurants, cafes and other potential customers. After that we will be able to complete the hiring process and will be adding a new baker to join our team.

Based on lots of questions and demands, we are thinking about having a daily Chef selection available at the store so our customers can come in and purchase freshly baked goods. We will be testing retail on Saturdays from 9-5 with a selection of breads and pastries available for purchase. The rest of the week, we operate as wholesale and catering business. So close yet still closed!

It’s almost March and we are STILL not open! What’s going on you may wonder? Well it’s complicated, it’s frustrating and we are doing everything we possibly can to get our store up and running. We are waiting to pass inspections and hoping to get keys next week! But who actually knows…

Can’t wait to move in!

October was our projected opening month but a big electrical delay put us behind many months. It was only at the beginning of February that the electrical box was switched on to power us up! With power, we got all the equipment tested and of course another delay… no thermostat=no AC! We can’t pass final inspections due to another delay with the hood installation that will set us back another week or two.

In the meantime, we moved out of our commercial kitchen in Boca and put the Green Market on hold. We apologize for not being out there but right now we are solely focusing on getting our store open for business. We have been meeting with potential customers around the Delray area, we are planning our Grand Opening for March, figuring out local advertising and we are hiring! We got our first wholesale customer in January at Bedner’s Farm Fresh Market in East Delray and we will be selling a variety of our croissants there.

Goodbye 2016. Hello New Year!

What a year it’s been!! After two years of planning, searching and taking the leap to become a small business owner,
Del Sol Bakery was born in 2016! In April we finally found a great location in Boynton Beach and signed a lease, in August we were granted all the building permits and construction begun. After a few more loooong months of building and some unplanned delays, we are happy to say all the equipment has been delivered, the walls have been painted, wallpaper installed and even had our Bakery sign installed. By the end of the year we were so close to having a complete store ready to open.

First Green Market was a Success!

We are proud to announce the success of our very first green market!  After lots of planning and preparations, our Del Sol booth came together beautifully! The bakers (my sister and I) were in the commercial kitchen by 3 AM Saturday morning to kick off our baking production. My fiancé and my mom were at the green market before 7 AM setting up the tent and tables and we were all ready for our first customers at 8 AM!! Read more

There has been lots of progress on the construction of our store! The tile floors were installed and the polished concrete will be finished by the end of the week. The ikea cabinets were assembled and are just waiting for the butcher block counter to be added on top. Next week we have our cooler being delivered and installed, then our giant deck oven installation. Read more
